Dessert First

Last week we had the privilege of enjoying some of Sara Belle's cupcakes over brunch, and with the heavenly taste of almond roca and lemon cream lingering on our tongues, we decided it's time for another roundup of wedding cakes we love.

Because our main focus is floral design, we adore a tiered cake topped with cascades of lush flowers, but vintage inspiration is still close to our hearts, and lately playful, modern cake design has been catching our collective eye as well.

The perfect amount of sweetness.

The Nature Lady

We got a nice surprise at the shop this morning: the Nature Lady stopped by for a visit! The Nature Lady, whose real name is Joy,  is a 70-something year old woman who travels around the country in a giant SUV, pulling an equally giant trailer filled with found and reclaimed woodland objects, with a pup named Lollipop to keep her company. Joy and Lollipop spend their days gathering these items, then cleaning them up and selling them to those of us so inclined to purchase found woodland objects.

Joy and Lollipop are awesome.

Lollipop invites you in!

Real Weddings: Carolyn & Thomas

With the succulent and rustic crazes still seemingly in full force, we thought you guys would enjoy these photos from Carolyn and Thomas' November 2011 wedding at The Four Seasons here in Austin.

The ceremony took place outdoors under a cluster of trees, aisle markers in glass cones on the ceremony chairs and reception arrangements in birch vases tying into the rustic, nature theme of the whole event. Each reception table also had succulents in glass vases, which doubled as favors for the guests. The bride's bouquet was composed of orchids, hydrangeas, thistle, stock and succulents for a very relaxed, organic feel.

What do you guys think? Are you still into succulents or are we moving towards a new trend for the 2012 wedding season?

Congratulations Lauren and Stuart!
This past weekend was a very busy one at La Fleur Vintage. We had two weddings that could not have been more different, or more beautiful. Check out photos I took on my phone from Lauren and Stuart's wedding.

One of the bridesmaid bouquets which included Stock, Ranunculus, Roses, Godetia, Sweet Peas, Scented Geranium, Eucalyptus and Succulents.
A Succulent, Coxcomb, and Herb Boutonierre with Turqoise Ribbon.

Three Garlands of Pink, Red, and Coral Carnations with dozens of Turquoise, Pink, and Red ribbon adorned the Ceremony site, two beautiful trees over looking the Sunset.

Long family style tables, with lace overlays, and a mix of bottles, jars, potted Succulents.

Lauren and Stuart selected Three Points Ranch for their wedding, perfect for the Rustic, Vintage Themed wedding.

Sweet last minute additions to the table included these darling little Birds.

We will post the professional photos as soon as we have them. We cannot wait!!!
