Hydrangea
Hydrangea Macrophylla

In Victorian England, to send someone hydrangeas was to suggest that he or she had been boasting.

Originally a marsh plant native to Asia, the hydrangea was introduced to Europe in the 18th century. It was associated with boastfulness because it produced such magnificent flowers, but no fruit.

  1. Love to learn the meaning of this! Boasting:-)

I've had several brides use this flower and it looks great in bouquets with other flowers.
